Why Plastic?

The smart use of plastic is an important part of caring for our environment and living healthier, happier lives. Plastic packaging is used for keeping medicines safe, and medical instruments sterile. Plastic bags and wraps keep food fresh, extending shelf life and keeping produce and other foods germ-free. Plastic makes our world safer, healthier, and cleaner.

Today's plastics are lighter, stronger, and more versatile, replacing glass and other heavier packaging materials. This translates into significantly lower transportation costs, reducing the use of fossil fuels and preserving valuable resources.

At Fortune Plastics, we use energy efficient processing and recycled material to reduce our impact on the environment while producing products that make the world a better place. Join us in our efforts by recycling plastic containers and grocery bags, and selecting the right plastics for your task to eliminate waste.

GREEN IS FORTUNE’S FAVORITE COLOR

Green is Fortune's Favorite ColorDetermine your desired level of “Green” by reviewing these simplified definitions of the types of “Green” options.

RECYCLED LLDPE & HDPE
Known as “ REPRO”

Enviroplas®, DuraCycle®
These are bags/liners made of “ bag manufacturer” scrap that have been re-ground and put back into resin form to make new bags.

POST CONSUMER WASTE
Known as “PCW”

Enviroplas®, DuraCycle®
These are bags made with a percentage of PCW resin. Post Consumer Waste resin is made of film and bags have been out in the market and returned by the consumer to be re-ground and put back in to resin form. Examples include: dry-cleaning bags, grocery handle bags- that are returned at store locations collected then re-ground and made back in resin. This PCW resin can be added to both HD and LLD films and has the same look, feel, and strength as a bag without the additive.

COMPOSTABLE – Comp-Lete®

Designed to work in a commercial and consumer (at home) compost system. Bags are made with the patented “Mater-Bi” bio plastic resin. The segregated “PLA” (poly lactic acid) packaging waste- and food scrap waste will completely degrade back in to topsoil as part of the completed compost process. Our compostable bags degrade at the same rate as 40# Kraft paper.

For over 20 years Fortune has been committed to environmental preservation and utilizing environmental friendly manufacturing and recycling practices including compostable bio-resin based products and degradable, recycled poly-content products.
